What is Samahang Plaridel?

The Association of Philippine Journalists – also known as Samahang Plaridel – is an association of media practitioners and communications specialists founded in 2003 by veteran journalists with at least 20 years of journalism experience.

It was originally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as Samahang Plaridel on October 3, 2003 under SEC Certificate of Incorporation registration no. CN200322338.

The purposes of the association, as stipulated in the Articles of Incorporation are:

To uphold the freedom of the press and the dignity of the journalism profession

To promote camaraderie, cooperation and understanding among journalists, particularly those who have been practitioners for 20 years or more

To work for the advancement of the journalism profession
